Paul Shead came into the 2016 with one goal, have a fun year and see where the season takes his race team. When the final checkered flag dropped Shead would beat out Michael Ridgeway Jr. for the overall track championship.

Even thought 2016 did not produce a win for the Barberville, FL native, Shead was still one of the most consistant drivers of 2016 in the Limited Late Model division. Shead would only fail to start one race during the season and never finished outside the top ten on his way to his first overall points championship at VSP.

Shead also started racing in the Modified division in the Gary Grove Racing #7P and has been tapped to run that machine full time in 2017 along with his Limited Late Model.

Shead drives a custom built chassis which he and his brother, Steve Shead, build together. The car is sponsored by LMS Tractor Services, Hometown Auto & Transmission, Eriks Event Management, and BMF signs.

Daytona Sportswear Modifieds-Garret Stewart

Starts - 12
Wins - 4
Top Fives - 11
Top Tens - 11

Garret Stewart came into 2016 starting his season off with the DIRTcar Nationals getting valuable seat time in his family owned Elite Chassis #67. That seat time translated into another championship run as the drivers out of Leesburg, FL won back to back track championships for the first time in his young career.

The Modified championship battle came down to the wire as Hunter Gustafson and 2014 track champion Larry Burkins were right behind Stewart every step of the way. The deciding factor was the consistency of Stewart as he would not miss a race the entire season and only finished outside the top five one time when mechanical issues struck the #67 machine.

Stewart also gained valuable seat time on a national level in 2016 as he would make the long trip to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH for the first time putting on a show for the fans and nearly coming away with a consi win until mechanical issues hit the #67 machine.

Stewarts' Elite Chassis is powered by Elite Racing Engines along with sponsorship from Salt Death Fishing, Stewart Electrical, and B4 Signs and Graphics.

Trevor Gamble has proven to be one of the best Hobby Stock drivers VSP has ever seen in recent years. Gary Yeomans Performance Parts Mini Stocks - Dalton Walker

Starts - 10
Wins - 0
Top Fives - 8
Top Tens - 10

Dalton Walker cam into the 2016 racing season as a quiet underdog of sorts. His race team had little sponsorship and a smaller budget compared to some of the other race teams. Walker would prove to be another example of consistancy as he would capture his first ever track title at VSP when the season came to a close.

Much like Paul Shead's and Travis Staats' championship run, Walker did not find victory lane in 2016, but never finished outside the top 10 and only finished outside the top five two times the entire season as he would beat out last years Gladiator champion, Brad Fender, by over 100 points in his second season in the division.

The Daytona Beach native finished second twice in 2016 and was one of the most liked drivers in the pits each and every Saturday night as well as one of the fan favorites.
